Immer wieder begenete man in den letzten Jahren dem Musiker und Produzenten aDUBta. Und das immer auf sehr erfreuliche Weise, sei es als Produzent oder Musiker. So hat er zum Beispiel der Roots Organisation aus Graz bei ihren Veröffentlichungen, wie etwa dem feinen Album “A Tale Of Skanking Horns” aus dem vergangenen Jahr, als Produzent zur Seite gestanden. Zusammen mit den Black Oak Roots Allstars legte er u.a. mit “Stop Putin” einen engagierten Track gegen den Krieg in der Ukraine vor auf dem Ranking Joe seine Botschaft eindringlich ins Mikrophon sang.

Ranking Joe ist nun auch wieder mit an Bord, wenn es darum geht, aDUBtas Debütalbum zu feiern. Neben ihm treten auch andere illustre Gäste, wie Earl 16, Vin Gordon, YT, Brother Culture, Cedric Myton und viele andere Sänger*Innen und Instrumentalisten auf, um ein wirklich gelungenes Gesamtwerk hinzulegen. Allen voran the Black Oak Roots Allstars.

Das Album beginnt mit dem Tune “Distant Drums” auf dem Earl 16 mit seinem zauberhaften, unverwechselbaren Gesang zu hören ist. Der Track gibt die Richtung vor in der auf “Sounds From The Attic” weiter musiziert und gesungen wird. Allen in feinster Handarbeit aufgenommen mit einer sehr schönen, warmen und analogen Atmosphäre. Elegant aber mit sanftem Druck.

Weitere Highlights von “Sounds From The Attic” sind die Tunes “Tribulation” (feat. Ranking Joe), “Mi Deh Yah” (feat. Brother Culture) und der Titeltrack, bei dem der Veteran Vin Gordon an der Posaune zu hören ist, der in seiner Karriere u.a. mit den Skatalites unterwegs und auf Alben von The Heptones, Bob Andy, Bob Marley und anderen zu hören war. Ein feiner, instrumentaler Track. Alle anderen liefern solide ab und tragen zu einem kurzweiligen, schönen Debüt bei. Respekt!  (Irieites.de/karsten frehe)
